Robert J. and Patty Mondore have writen a book entirely about the history of Dark Island and Singer Castle. The book, entitled 'Singer Castle' (ISBN 0738537640) is published by Arcadia Publishing, Amerca's leading publisher of local and regional history. The book is 128 pages long and contains over 200 photo's and is part of Arcadia Publishings' Images of America series. Patty Mondore was the island organist for the church services before the island was sold in 2002. They have a very interesting perspective and insiders look at the events on the islands and its history. Their book can be purchased from their web site (http://www.gold-mountain.com/SingerCastle.html) or from many retailers in the region. A list of retailers can be found on thier web site.

One of my own photographs of Singer Castle is also pictureed on page 61 of his book. You can purchase the book from his web site (http://www.1000islandsbooks.com) or from dozons of retailers in the region. It is one of the most detailed books about the history of the golden era of the Thousand Islands and St. Lawrence River.
